Pair Accused of Stripping Georges Home, Setting Fire
Two Fayette County men were arrested Thursday, hours after police said they stripped a vacant home of metal pipes and doors and then set the structure ablaze.
Adam Franklin Myers, 19, of Uniontown, and Robert Allen Jordan, 26, of Smithfield, were charged with burglary, theft and arson Thursday night.
State police were called to investigate a fire reported at 2:55 p.m. at 206 Club York Road, Georges.
Cpl. Thomas Maher, a state police fire marshal from the Uniontown barracks, said the fire was determined to be arson. Through interviews, he identified Myers and Jordan as suspects and located them in another home on Club York Road.
The two men broke into the vacant residence and stole about $3,000 worth of copper piping, copper electric lines, aluminum doors and other metal items, Maher said.
Jordan admitted to police that he started the fire as the pair left the residence with their last load of metal. They planned to sell the metal for scrap, Maher said.
All of the metal was recovered in a nearby corn field, Maher said. The fire damage to the home, owned by Wendell O’Hern of Uniontown, is estimated at $15,000, Maher said.
Jordan and Myers are both lodged in the Fayette County Prison in lieu of posting $25,000 bond each.
