Balakovo Npp Unit Disconnected for Repairs
SARATOV. Sept 1 (Interfax) – The second unit of the Balakovo nuclear power plant (NNP) in Russia’s Saratov region has been disconnected for electro-technical repairs. Planned repairs of the unit ended last week.
“The second unit of the Balakovo NPP was disconnected from the power network at 5:45 a.m. Moscow time on August 31 for repairing electro-technical systems. The first, third and fourth units are operating regularly,” the power plant said.
Radiation is normal. The unit will be back to work on September 1, the plant said.
Planned repairs of the unit ended on August 29.
The Balakovo NPP with four water-cooled water-moderated units, VVER-1000, was built in 1985-1993. The power plant has the rated capacity of 4,000 megawatts.
