Kemin Industries to Provide Food Quality and Shelf Life Stability Expertise to United Nations World Food Programme

Kemin Industries will help the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to further improve the quality and nutritional impact of the food it distributes to the hungry poor throughout the world, it was announced today.
Kemin, through an agreement signed in at WFP's headquarters in Rome, will support WFP in building technical expertise in the field of food quality maintenance and quality assurance systems. WFP is the world's largest humanitarian aid agency. Last year it distributed 3.3 million metric tons of food to 86.1 million people.
As the recognized leader in food shelf life stability, with nearly 50 years of experience in scientific research and development of products and services in the food and feed industries, Kemin will provide specialists to improve the quality of WFP's processed and fortified foods. These include items such as High Energy Biscuits, the specially enriched cookies which WFP distributes in emergency situations.
