Alaska Airlines Monthly Traffic Slightly Down

Alaska Airlines, a subsidiary of the Alaska Air Group, has announced that its traffic decreased 1% to 1.79 billion revenue passenger miles in August 2008, compared to 1.81 billion revenue passenger miles in August 2007.

The airline’s capacity decreased slightly in August 2008 to 2.17 billion available seat miles (ASMs) from 2.17 billion ASMs in August 2007. Passenger load factor was 82.5%, compared to 83.3% in August 2007. The airline has carried 1.62 million passengers, compared to 1.75 million passengers in August 2007.

Horizon Air, a subsidiary of the Alaska Air Group, has announced that its traffic decreased 14.7% to 259.6 million revenue passenger miles in August 2008, compared to 304.5 million revenue passenger miles in August 2007. Capacity decreased 12.8% to 332.2 million ASMs, from 381.1 million ASMs in August 2007.

The passenger load factor for the month of August 2008 was 78.1%, compared to 79.9% in August 2007. The airline has carried 699,300 passengers, compared to 762,300 in August 2007.
