Taiwanese Airlines to Reduce Fuel Surcharge on International Routes

The Civil Aeronautics Administration of Taiwan has announced that domestic airlines would reduce fuel surcharges on international routes to reflect lower crude oil prices, reported PetrolWorld.
Effective September 10, 2008, Taiwan-based airlines will reduce fuel surcharge from $37.50 to $30 on short-haul flights, and from $97.50 to $68 on long-haul routes.
The Civil Aeronautics Administration had earlier announced an 8.3% fuel surcharge increase in June 2008, based on the two-month average price of $157.44 per barrel of aviation fuel.
The aviation regulation body has said that the cut comes as Taiwan’s state-owned oil company CPC Corporation pegged aviation fuel at $146 per barrel for September 2008, according to PetrolWorld.
