MOSCOW. Sept 6 (Interfax) – The Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviation) will suspend the operational certificates of three companies incorporated in the AirUnion alliance, Atlant-Soyuz airline General Director Alexei Menitsky told journalists.

“DAL [Domodedovo Airline], Samara [Airlines] and KrasAir will fly using their own codenames until September 30. On September 30, the operational certificates of these companies will be suspended in line with a Rosaviation decision,” he said.

Atlant-Soyuz has assumed the obligation to transport AiRUnion’s passengers under a government decision.

Atlant-Soyuz will inherit AirUnion’s entire route network, Menitsky said. “Next week, the route network will be reassigned to Atlant-Soyuz,” he said.

Asked whether Atlant-Soyuz will absorb AirUnion’s fleet, Menitsky said at least part of this fleet is likely to be transferred to Atlant-Soyuz. “We need to look at the aircraft’s technical condition, and we won’t use the entire fleet. In the future, we will start planning a new fleet,” he said.

For his part, Rosaviation chief Yevgeny Bachuring told journalists that a final decision on the matter has yet to be made.

“All companies of the alliance were reported as not conforming with certification requirements. They could be stopped even today, but we are not going to do that,” Bachurin said, adding that the decision will be announced next week.
