2006 WSOP Champion Jamie Gold Tapped As Keynote Speaker During 2008 CAP Euro Convention
Jamie Gold, the 2006 World Series of Poker Champion, will serve as keynote speaker at the 2008 Casino Affiliate Program (CAP) Euro, an annual online gambling industry conference, in Barcelona, Spain Saturday, September 27, at the Princess Sofia Hotel. Gold, who is best known for winning the single highest payout in sports history at the WSOP main event, more than $12 million, will discuss the current and future state of online poker.
"There's no doubt that the explosion of poker around the world is directly connected to the emergence and phenomenal success of online poker," Gold said. "I look forward to participating in discussions on how to maintain online poker's momentum."
Gold's most recent appearance on the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Labor Day Telethon helped generate awareness of the MDA's ALS division as part of the annual event, which raised a record $65 million. Gold's father, Robert, lost his long battle against ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) in 2006 and Jamie is determined to help make a difference in the lives of those afflicted with this horrible disease.
In addition to hosting and emceeing at charity events, Gold holds private clinics to offer guidance to players prior to the tournaments. At this year's CAP Euro, Gold will host exclusive poker coaching lessons in the run-up to qualifiers for the Affiliate Series of Poker, alongside an autograph signing session.
Gold follows legendary Doyle Brunson as keynote speaker.
"It's indeed an honor to follow the legend in being the keynote speaker at this year's CAP Euro convention," says Gold.
