SENTEL Wins Contract to Support FAA Safety Management System
ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ — SENTEL Corporation, an engineering and technology services company that provides the federal government, military, and commercial enterprises worldwide with engineering products, services and IT solutions, announced today that it has won a four-year, $21.7 million contract with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). SENTEL will be supporting the FAA’s Air Traffic Organization Safety Management System (SMS).
According to the FAA, “The forecast growth in air transportation will require new measures and a greater effort from all aviation producers — including airport operators — to achieve a continuing improvement in the level of aviation safety.” The SMS program includes safety policy, safety risk management, safety assurance (e.g., safety audits, evaluations, quality assurance, and quality control), and safety promotion (e.g., SMS training, open and proactive safety culture promotion, and the improvement of safety performance and related actions through reported findings).
Darrell Crapps, President and CEO of SENTEL, stated that “The aviation industry has undergone enormous changes over the past few years, but safety continues to be the top priority. We’re very excited to work with the FAA to help maintain and strengthen its Safety Management System through our work on technology and administrative activities.”
