[By reporters Han Qiao and Huang Haimin: "Nong Duc Manh Hopes That Guandgong Province Will Strengthen Economic and Trade Cooperation With Vietnam"]
Hanoi, 9 Sep (Xinhua) – General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nong Duc Manh expressed hope on 8 September that China’s Guangdong Province will continue to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in the fields of economy, trade, investment, and energy so as to vigorously promote Vietnam-China traditional friendly cooperative relations towards continuous development.
When meeting Wang Yang, member of the CCP Central Committee Political Bureau and secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, in Hanoi, Nong Duc Manh said that currently Vietnam- China relations have developed well. When he visited China in May this year, leaders of the two countries unanimously agreed to develop Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership so that the relations between the two political parties and countries will achieve new progress.
Nong Duc Manh said: President Ho Chi Minh and the other older generation Vietnamese leaders lived and conducted revolutionary activities in Guangdong in the past. The Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, government, and people have taken good care of the historical relics related to President Ho Chi Minh’s activities in Guangdong in the past. This gives expression to the deep feeling of the Guangdong people and the friendly feeling between the two countries and two parties.
During the meeting, Wang Yang first conveyed General Secretary Hu Jintao’s regards to General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and thanked him for consistently paying attention to the development of China- Vietnam friendly relations and for actively promoting exchanges and cooperation between Vietnam and Guangdong.
Wang Yang said: Guangdong attaches great importance to strengthening omnidirectional exchanges and cooperation with Vietnam. Both sides share very great potential for cooperation. Guangdong will seize the important opportunity provided by the China- ASEAN free trade zone to vigorously push forward bilateral cooperation and achieve common development. In the meantime, Guangdong will encourage some labour-intensive enterprises to transfer to Vietnam for mutually beneficial and win-win results, to inject new contents into the two countries’ comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with actual deeds.
Wang Yang led a Guangdong delegation to Hanoi on 6 September for a visit.
