U.S. Supports Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan to Sell Their Energy
BAKU. Sept 9 (Interfax) – The United States backs the development of cooperation with Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, U.S. Department of State Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy Boyden Gray said.
This will allow the market to secure new energy deliveries, Gray said at the conference entitled “Oil and Gas Potential in Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan: Energy, Economy, Ecology. Partnership Strategy” that opened in Baku on Tuesday.
All countries should have the right to freely sell their resources, Gray said.
It is noted in the message of Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow to participants in the conference that general oil and gas resources of the Caspian region are estimated at 45 billion tonnes of fuel equivalent, 18 billion tonnes of which lie on the Turkmen territory, and these figures could grow because reserves in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea are now being audited.
