Verizon Business, a unit of the US-based phone carrier Verizon Communications, has launched a managed wireless LAN service for organizations and government entities.

The company said the MWLAN service includes Cisco Unified Wireless Network technology and is based on the IEEE 802.11 industry standard. It offers built-in security functions including centralized network and policy management, and intrusion detection and prevention.

It is available in the US and in 28 countries across Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

Nancy Gofus, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at Verizon Business said: “Our enhanced managed wireless LAN portfolio enables companies to leverage wireless technology while helping manage the day-to-day complexities often associated with wireless LANs.”
