Copper Mountain Mining Corporation – Exploration Update: Drill Intersection in Oriole Zone of 131 Feet Grading 1.34% Copper and 10.3 G/T Silver

September 11, 2008
Repost This

VANCOUVER, Sept. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Copper Mountain Mining Corporation (“CMMC” or the “Company”) is pleased to provide results from its on-going exploration program. Four drills are currently active on the property and approximately 148,000 feet (45,000 meters) of drilling has been completed so far this year. The objectives of the drilling program have been to increase the size and grade of the overall resource; particularly in areas adjacent to and below the Super-pit area, and to discover new zones of mineralization, as well as to provide condemnation and geotechnical drilling related to mine development. The discovery of new areas of mineralization has been greatly aided by the Titan 24 Geophysical Survey which outlined substantial areas of high-chargeability both near surface and at depth. Results of the drill program will be incorporated into new resource estimates, mine plans and feasibility updates at appropriate intervals.

Significant drill results continue to come from the area to the west of Pit 2, now termed the Copper King zone – which forms the westward extension of the Super-Pit, as well as from the Oriole area, located just to the south of Pit 3. Development of significant resources within the Oriole zone, could result in a southeasterly expansion of the Super-pit by more than 1,000 feet. Highlights of the results for 25 new drill-holes are included in the table below and drill-hole locations are shown on the attached map. To view the map, please visit the following link: http://files.newswire.ca/596/CuMtn_Oriole_Zone.pdf . Complete results can be found on the company’s website.

Pit 2 West – Copper King:

Drilling to the west of Pit 2, in the Copper King zone, continues to extend mineralization in both northerly and westerly directions. Drilling is being conducted on 200 foot centres along 200 foot, spaced sections. Significant intersections include drill-hole P2-130 which intersected 250 feet of 0.60% Cu Eq. and drill-hole P2-140 which cut 390 feet of 0.50% Cu Eq. The higher grade core of the Copper King zone extends from the west wall of Pit 2 for 1,300 feet to the west and is enclosed within a mineralized area that extends from the north edge of Pit 1 for 1,500 feet to the north. The Copper King mineralization remains open to expansion, to the north, west and at depth, and continued expansion will result in an enlargement of the proposed Super Pit.

Oriole Zone:

Twenty, new drill-holes have been completed in the Oriole Zone, an extension of the Copper Mountain trend to the southeast of Pit 3, and assay results have been received for the first ten. Historical drilling in the Oriole area had indicated a small zone of near surface mineralization, and the Titan 24 geophysical survey suggested that the mineralized zone was likely far more extensive. The current drill program has expanded the mineralization to depth and to the north, connecting it to Pit 3, which could ultimately result in a southerly extension of the Super-Pit by more than 1,000 feet. The most significant results include drill-hole CM08O-01, which was drilled immediately south of Pit 3 and intersected 210 feet grading 0.79% Cu Eq. and drill-hole CM08O-07 which tested the central part of the Oriole zone at depth and intersected 1.34% Cu and 10.3 g/t Ag, or 1.44% Cu Eq., over 131 feet.

The mineralized system at Copper Mountain is classified as a bulk-tonnage, alkalic porphyry copper deposit that is hosted within Nicola Group volcanic rocks. Mineralization is structurally controlled and focused at multi-directional vein intersections and within vein stockwork systems. Drill holes are usually drilled at angles of -45 or -55 degrees to provide the best indication of the lateral extents of vertically oriented mineralization.

The Copper Mountain project is located 300 km outside of Vancouver, British Columbia. The Copper Mountain project is a former producer of just under 2 billion pounds of copper and as a result has extensive infrastructure in place, including power and water. The site can be accessed year round via a paved public road to the mine gate, 20 kilometres from the town of Princeton.

Quality Assurance

The company employs a system of quality control for drill results which includes the use of blanks, certified reference material (standards) and check assaying. Core is logged on site and split with a diamond saw. Samples are shipped to Pioneer Laboratories for geochemical analysis of copper with all values of greater than 1,000 ppm copper being re-analysed by assay methods for copper, gold and silver. The drilling program is being supervised by Peter Holbek, M.Sc., P.Geo., a qualified person as defined by National Policy Instrument 43-101.
