Turkish, Greek Ministers Discuss Energy Issues

Baku, 9 September: Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Hilmi Guler met Tuesday Greek Development Minister Christos Folias to discuss energy issues including Nabucco project, a planned natural gas pipeline to pump natural gas from Turkey to Austria, via Bulgaria, Romania, and Hungary.

Guler and Folias attended a conference on "oil and gas potential in Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan" in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku and the two ministers had a meeting following the conference.

Guler also told Greek minister that Turkey and Greece could cooperate on renewable energy works, carry out joint projects and organize joint conferences on renewable energy, officials said.

Turkish Energy Minister also had separate meetings with Boyden Gray, Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy at the Mission of the United States to the European Union and Steven Mann, U.S. Senior Advisor for Caspian Basin Energy Diplomacy.

Earlier in the day, Guler was received by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and met Georgian Energy Minister Aleksander Khetaguri.

Guler is expected to meet Azerbaijani Industry and Energy Minister Natiq Aliyev on Wednesday.
