Virgin Blue to Launch Seasonal Service Between Brisbane and Launceston

Virgin Blue Airlines has announced that it will launch a new seasonal direct service between Brisbane and Launceston, effective December 15, 2008.

The airline said that it will use one of its new Embraer E-jets to operate the route following the scheduled arrival of more aircraft direct from Brazil in November 2008.

Virgin Blue currently operates four daily direct flights from Launceston to Melbourne and a daily direct flight between Launceston and Sydney with connecting flights to other destinations across Australia.

Brett Godfrey, CEO of Virgin Blue, said: "We made the decision to launch the direct service due to the large number of guests who were using our connecting services via both Melbourne and Sydney to continue on to Brisbane. Both Launceston and Brisbane have plenty to offer and we are confident the summer season is the ideal time to offer new services between the two destinations."
