Energy is the hot topic with rising natural gas prices and the up- and-down nature of oil prices.

That is one of the reasons the city has taken steps to become a “Focus on Energy” community. Linda Parrish, Fennimore Promotions coordinator.

A series of free public meetings will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the Lenz Center of Southwest Wisconsin Technical College, with the first meeting between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. It will be more focused toward industry, business and agriculture. Another meeting about residential will be from 4 to 5 p.m., and the third meeting will be 6 to 7 p.m.

There will be short presentations on each of the topics and for questions from the public. Topics include rebates for buying energy- efficient appliances.

Southwest Tech and Scenic Rivers Energy Co-op are partnering with the city on the program.
