Iran Warns Austrian Firm Over Delays in Pipeline Deal

Text of report by state-run Iranian radio on 14 September

[Presenter] The minister of oil has warned the [Austrian energy firm] OMV about delays in the Nabucco gas pipeline. Gholamhoseyn Nowzari said that unless OMV finalizes the contract soon, Tehran will look for other gas export partners.

He told the Austrian Wiener Zeitung that the Austrians must be quick to finalize the preliminary contracts, because time is passing and we will not wait forever. The oil minister said that Iran has many options on the table and added that this has been a record year for new deals.

OMV is one of six partners in the Nabucco pipeline project that will transport Iranian and Central Asia gas to Europe from the Caspian Sea, bypassing Russia.
