Iron Maiden’s Bruce to Rescue
By KATE MANSEY
IRON Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson proved a real rock to hundreds of stranded Brits yesterday as he flew to their rescue.
The heavy metal star, who also works as an airline pilot, picked up 180 XL passengers stuck in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
Dickinson, 50, whose hits include Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter and Run To The Hills, has been working as a commercial pilot for Crawley-based airline Astraeus for eight years.
Notts-born Bruce who was flying a Boeing 747 for Astraeus on behalf of Monarch Airlines said: "I'm a pilot and a pop star, what can I say? I just got on with doing my job."
