HAWKEYE Registers for BC Hydro’s 2008 Clean Power Call (CPC)
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA–(Marketwire – Aug. 12, 2008) – HAWKEYE Energy is pleased to announce that it has filed formal submission documents with BC Hydro registering the company for B.C. Hydro’s 2008 Clean Power Call (CPC) which is also referred to as the Request for Proposal (RFP). HAWKEYE submitted Phase 1 of its 350 MW run-of-river GREEN ENERGY GRID(TM) portfolio into the (CPC) with a mandate to construct twelve (12) run-of-river projects totaling 180 megawatts (MWs) of renewable green energy and to construct a 120 kilometer transmission line. The twelve projects which are situated in the Toba Valley, Jervis Inlet and Powell River region are located on the southwest coast of British Columbia and can produce enough green hydroelectric power to service up to 67,181 British Columbia (BC) homes. HAWKEYE’s Phase 1 (180 MW) green energy contribution brings the province of BC one step closer to its stated goal of being energy self-sufficient by 2016.
The company is now focused on preparing its bid designed to secure an Energy Purchase Agreement (EPA) from BC Hydro. The first step was to register for the CPC (done) and the final step is for HAWKEYE to submit its bid proposal to BC Hydro before the deadline date on November 25, 2008. Electricity Purchase Agreements (EPA’s) from BC Hydro are expected to be awarded during April through June 2009.
