Govt to Reprimand ANA in Writing for Flight Cancellations

Tokyo, Sept. 16 (Jiji Press)--Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Sadakazu Tanigaki said Tuesday that his ministry will reprimand All Nippon Airways in writing for its recent flight cancellations due to system failure and demand it improve its operations.

In May last year, the ministry made a verbal reprimand, a lighter disciplinary action, to the Japanese airline on a similar fault.

ANA's flight cancellations last weekend had widespread effects and happened for the second time in two years, Tanigaki told a press conference. The ministry must take a serious action to prevent similar incidents, he said.

Ryuhei Maeda, director-general of the ministry's Civil Aviation Bureau, will summon ANA President Mineo Yamamoto and hand out the document.END
