TAM to Launch Direct Flights From Rio De Janeiro to Miami, New York

Brazilian airline TAM has announced that it will launch two direct flights from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to the US cities of Miami and New York.

The airline will operate direct flights from the Tom Jobim International Airport in Rio de Janeiro to the John F Kennedy International Airport in New York on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, effective November 1, 2008. The return flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Currently, TAM operates two daily flights to New York, originating from Sao Paulo, Brazil. TAM will also launch a direct flight between Rio de Janeiro and Miami, effective September 19, 2008.

Paulo Branco, vice president of commercial operations and planning at TAM, said: "Rio de Janeiro's market is strategic for TAM. Therefore we are increasingly investing in the services we provide."
