MTS Wins Two Prestigious Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards
MOSCOW, Russian Federation, September 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Mobile TeleSystems OJSC (“MTS” – NYSE: MBT), the largest mobile phone operator in Russia and the CIS, announces that it has won two 2008 Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards in “Marketing strategy and service innovation” and “International mobile service innovation” categories.
MTS received the award in the “Marketing strategy and service innovation” category for its customer-centric lifestyle segmentation that has helped the company to grow subscriber base and increase brand affinity.
MTS also received the award in the “International mobile service innovation” category for a joint project with Atos Origin for Worldline global recharge service that enables customers to recharge their balance when traveling abroad through cross-border airtime transfers.
Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards, held in London on September 9, 2008, reward the most innovative projects and initiatives undertaken by companies in the telecommunications industry.
