Maryland Utilities Issue RFPs for Supply of Wholesale Electric Power

Allegheny Power, the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company, the Delmarva Power & Light Company and the Potomac Electric Power Company have issued full-requirement requests for proposals for wholesale electric power supply to meet their standard offer service obligations in their Maryland service territories.
Each utility will provide market-based supply service to some or all of its electric customers who do not receive service from competitive retail suppliers. The requests for proposals (RFPs) will consist of supply contracts ranging in term from quarterly to 29 months.
For the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE), Delmarva, and the Potomac Electric Power Company (Pepco), the bidding for residential contracts will occur in two procurements during October 2008 and April 2009, and the contract term will be 24 months.
For Allegheny Power (AP), the bidding for residential contracts will occur in four procurements during October 2008, and the months of January, April and June in 2009, and the contract term will range from five to 29 months.
