East End Power Back on After 2,000, Capitol, Left in Dark
Power has been restored to 2,000 Appalachian Power customers in the East End after an outage this morning.
About 4 a.m., residents lost power when an underground cable at the company’s Capitol Hill substation malfunctioned, said Appalachian Power spokesman Phil Moye.
The outage affected residents on Greenbrier Street, Renaissance Circle, Garrison Avenue, Washington Street East and parts of the Capitol complex.
About 7:30 a.m., power was restored after utility officials switched customers to another power source, Moye said.
He said crews would work today to fix the faulty cable.
“It’s back in service, we’re still working on repairs,” Moye said.
