China Starts Defining of New Iranian Gas Field
Text of report by state-run Iranian radio on 19 September
The Chinese company - Sinopec - has begun the defining of the Yadavaraan gas field. The managing director of the MATN [Persian: Sherkat-e Mohandessi Towse'eh Naft; Oil Development Engineering Company] said that with the drawing of the contract for Yadavaraan gas field the Chinese company Sinopec has started the development of this gas field. Naji Sa'douni added that after this stage the operations for the development of the Yadavaraan gas field will begin. The two-billion dollar contract for the development of the Yadavaraan gas field was signed last December with the Chinese company; Sinopec.
The Yadavaraan filed with total crude reserves totalling some 17bn 300m barrels is situated in the south of the Azaadegan fields in the Province of Khuzestan [south west Iran on border with Iraq].
