WOOSTER — Born from an employee suggestion program, Tricor Industrial Inc. recently offered an art show to its workers, with an intent to provide an opportunity for employees, new and old, to get to know each other better by revealing personal interests and hobbies. It also gives the company a chance to display artwork in its corporate offices.

The contest was open to all employees, their spouses, and dependents at each of the company’s (4) divisions: the Industrial Branch Operation on Bowman Street in Wooster; the Industrial Branch Operation in Bellaire; the Texas Metals Division in Conroe, Texas; and the Ohio Metals Division west of Wooster.

Each person could enter two items of anything considered art. Most entries were photographs that were enlarged and framed to hang on the halls of Tricor’s offices. Several other art objects included drawings, ceramics, metal work and wild boar tusks capped with stainless steel metal work.

Four categories were established to create various themes for the entries: “Vacations,”"Animals,”"Babies” and “Home Town Proud.” In all, there were nearly 50 entries with first- and second-place prizes in each category, plus one best of show picked from all entries. The display was set up at the Wooster Metals Division where all employees had the opportunity to vote for their favorites over a two-day period. On the third day the winners were revealed.

Next year’s categories are: “Planes, Trains and Automobiles,”"America the Beautiful,”"People: From Day 1 to Over 101″ and “Nature: Plants and Animals, Rocks and Minerals.”
