Mincom, a leading global software and services provider to asset-intensive industries, is working with Banpu Public Company Limited (Banpu), Thailand to streamline its customer delivery process using technical mining products from Mincom's Intelligent Mining Solution suite.
Banpu was established as a coal-mining venture in Thailand in the early 1980s, expanding into Indonesia and China. It is the Asia-Pacific region's second largest independent coal producer, excluding the major international mining groups and state-owned companies, and represents Mincom's largest implementation of its technical mining products in Indonesia.
Banpu uses three solutions, Mincom MineMarket, Mincom MineScape and Mincom CCLAS, to ensure effective and efficient management of all aspects of its mining operations from mine modeling and mine planning, to laboratory information management for quality control through to contract delivery of coal.
Dr. Sathidpong Wattananuchit, Group Senior Vice President, Corporate Services, for Banpu, said, "Since implementing Mincom's mining solutions we have seen consistent business improvement that has supported increased mine site profitability.
"Mincom solutions give us complete visibility of schedules and quality. We know where our coal is at any given time, which lets us set realistic expectations for our customers. We can predict almost down to the hour when ships will arrive."
Gordon Melvin, Mincom Global Director - Mining Vertical, said, "Mincom is a pioneer in developing solutions that address the unique challenges of mining operations, helping them maximize shareholder value while managing the delicate balance between optimizing mine life, maximizing plant production and extending the life of contracts to customers.
"Today around eighty percent of coal mines in Indonesia use Mincom mining solutions to support their operations. Banpu is one of the most complex users of Mincom MineMarket in the world due to the complexity of using barges to transport coal more than 700km to the port in order to meet the shipping needs of its customers."
Mincom MineMarket lets Banpu track production figures on a daily basis to meet their KPI's and give a clear picture of what is happening throughout the operation.
Mincom CCLAS lets Banpu manage consistency in coal standards across its operation and Mincom MineScape allows Banpu to predict where to mine based on geological modeling.
Allen Vaughn, Mincom Executive Vice President - Global Mining, said, "Mincom has intimate knowledge of Banpu's operations and business requirements, which puts us in a unique position to understand Banpu's vision for optimization of day-to-day operations. The integration of our technical mining products is an additional benefit that allows us to meet the complex needs of customers in the most efficient way."
Mincom and Banpu are further strengthening their working relationship by partnering to showcase the efficiencies of Mincom's solutions. Banpu will be hosting visits to the Indonesian site as well as participating in a number of other partnership initiatives in the future.
