Three Killed in Central China Colliery Gas Outburst

CHANGSHA, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) - At least three miners were killed and one remained missing after a coal and gas outburst took place at a colliery in central China's Hunan Province on Tuesday, local safety watchdog confirmed on Wednesday.
The accident happened at about 5:20 p.m. when four miners were working underground at Qunli Coal Mine in Lianyuan City, Hunan Province, the provincial work safety supervision administration said on Wednesday.
The operation license of the mine had expired, according to preliminary investigation.
No more information was available so far. Investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
