Danger Gases Stolen in Raid
POTENTIALLY lethal gas canisters have been stolen from a Teesside industrial unit.
The 13 torpedo-shaped gas canisters were stolen from an industrial unit in the Portrack area of Stockton between close of business on Monday and yesterday morning.
The 5ft by 15ins diameter containers are made of solid steel and contain oxygen which is under high-pressure and extremely volatile.
Officers warn serious damage and injury would occur if the canisters were punctured and are urging anyone with information or who may come across the items to contact police immediately.
A further 12 smaller portable steel canisters – which were empty – were stolen between close of business yesterday and first thing this morning.
Anyone with information should contact Detective Sergeant Ash Harvey of Stockton CID on 01642 302226 or the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
