Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/4acd45/kuwait_food_and_dr) has announced the addition of the "Kuwait Food and Drink Report Q3 2008" report to their offering.

The Kuwait Food Drink Report provides independent forecasts and competitive intelligence on Kuwait's food and drink industry.

Food security and process continue to grab the headlines in Kuwait, as the government continues to look for ways to alleviate the pressure this is placing on everyday Kuwaitis, as discussed in BMI's recently published Kuwait Food & Drink Report for Q308. In April 2008 the Kuwaiti authorities decided to import extra food in order to increase the country's strategic national reserves of basic foods. The government stressed that this stockpiling measure was being taken out of caution, saying that residents should not be alarmed, and that this is merely a means of safeguarding again rising prices.

Then in May 2008 Kuwait's central bank was urging the government deal with food price inflation by giving away more land instead of spending more on its already generous subsidies. While parliamentary candidates have been demanding that the government raise state subsidies and payments to citizens, the central bank has pointed out that monetary rules alone cannot curb inflation, and that spending growth rates should be limited. One measure the bank was encouraging is for the government to transfer more land to private ownership, in order to encourage greater agricultural development.
