Sainsbury’s Withdraws Pumpkin and Pepper Soup

September 26, 2008

The UK’s Food Standards Agency has announced that Sainsbury’s has withdrawn some packs of its So Organic Pumpkin & Sweet Red Pepper Soup because the packs contain So Organic Celeriac & Mushroom Soup.

The presence of celeriac and celery in this soup is not mentioned on the packaging and therefore the product may be a possible risk to health for people allergic to celery, the agency stated.

The agency has issued an allergy alert advising anyone with an allergy to celery not to eat the product. The product being withdrawn is: Sainsbury’s So Organic Pumpkin & Sweet Red Pepper Soup, 600 grams, with a use by date of October 7, 2008.

The company has withdrawn the packs with the affected date code and has contacted the relevant allergy support organizations, which will inform their members of the withdrawal.
