Heaving on a Jet Plane

September 27, 2008

By STEPHEN WHITE

THIS is your captain speaking, could you please push harder…

These stunned passengers were ordered off their plane when it broke down and told to shove it to the gate.

It took them two hours to heave the Shandong airlines jet half a mile to the terminal at Zhengzhou in China.

One airport worker said: “Thank God it was only a 20-ton medium- sized plane. If it had been a big one it would have knocked us out.” Quite.

You have to ask why staff couldn’t get a truck to tug the aircraft back to the gate.

They obviously weren’t as pushy as the passengers.
