BMW Appoints Industrial Relations Director

The supervisory board of BMW has appointed Harald Kruger as industrial relations director and member of the board of management with responsibility for human resources.

Mr Kruger will take over this position from Ernst Baumann, who will be stepping down from the board of management after reaching the agreed age limit, with effect from December 1, 2008.

Joachim Milberg, chairman of the supervisory board of BMW, said: "Harald Kruger has a wealth of experience in both our production and human resources divisions. With the choice of Mr Kruger we are ensuring that the implementation of our Strategy Number One will be backed by competent, long-term support on the human resources side."

Mr Kruger joined BMW in April 1992, and most recently was director of the company's production strategy, control and planning division. Prior to that, he managed the BMW Group's engine plant at Hams Hall in the UK. He has also held a number of positions within the human resources division.
