Skanska to Build SRU, Tail Gas Treatment Unit at Capuava Refinery

Skanska, a construction and project development company, has secured a contract to build a sulfur recovery unit and a tail gas treatment unit at Capuava refinery in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The total contract value is $125 million.

Skanska has a 40% share in the contract equal to $50 million, which has been included in order bookings for the third quarter.

The sulfur recovery unit (SRU) facility will have a capacity to recover 20 tons per day of sulfur and the tail gas treatment unit (TGTU) will clean 40 tons of tail gas per day.

The scope of the contract includes detail engineering, purchasing, construction, electromechanical installations and assistance with commissioning and start-up of the plant.

The project is part of a Brazil's environmental program to reduce sulfur contaminants in petroleum by-products. Work begins in October 2008 and is scheduled for completion within 24 months.
