SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Oct. 3 /PRNewswire/ — Verizon Wireless has enhanced its coverage in Joe Louis Arena by installing new equipment in the building that significantly improves its signal quality. The upgrade enables more customers to use their wireless phones concurrently to make voice calls; send and receive email and text, picture and video messages; access the Internet; view high-quality videos; and download music, games and ringtones, while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls.

“Hockey fans rely on their wireless phones before, during and after games for everything from keeping in touch with friends and family to checking other sports scores from our ESPN MVP service,” said Greg Haller, president-Michigan/Indiana/Kentucky Region, Verizon Wireless. “This enhancement helps to ensure that customers inside Joe Louis Arena will enjoy the same reliable service they have come to expect from Verizon Wireless wherever they use our network.”

The improvement is part of Verizon Wireless’ continual effort to expand coverage, increase capacity and enhance the quality of its wireless voice and data network in Michigan and throughout the country. Verizon Wireless has invested more than $45 billion since it was formed-$5.5 billion on average every year-to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. More than $1.7 billion of this investment has been spent in Michigan since 2000. In 2007, the company invested more than $145 million in Michigan network improvements.
