Finland Likely to Set Up Renewable Energy Facilities in Zambia

Finland is interested in investing in renewable energy sources, Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister, Felix Mutati said.
Renewable source is energy generated from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides and geothermal heat.
Mr Mutati said a delegation of business experts from Finland, which is currently in the country, was attracted in investing in renewable energy sources.
He said the Finnish delegation was looking for opportunities to set up renewable energy facilities in the country.
He was speaking in Lusaka on Wednesday during a meeting with local entrepreneurs.
The Zambian businessmen and women had just returned from the just- ended 12th China International Fair for Investment and Trade in China.
Mr Mutati said the delegation would be given more details on various opportunities existing in the cultivation of Jathropa for biofuel.
And the minister urged the Biofuel Association of Zambia (BAZ) chairman, Thomson Sinkala to design a project proposal which should be given to the delegation before they go back to their country tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Mary Lubemba, who was one of the entrepreneurs that attended the China fair said most of the entrepreneurs had already received inquiries and orders to supply various products to the Chinese market.
