Sunrise Solar Founds 'Green University'
Posted on: Monday, 6 October 2008, 09:00 CDT
Sunrise Solar Corp. (OTCBB:SSLR) today announced the formation of the 'Green University.' Green University will provide training for 'green collar' jobs such as solar installation engineers, solar power production supervisors, solar grid installation technicians and alternative energy marketing consultants.
Green Collar jobs are essential to the development and deployment of alternative energy solutions because new technologies require a trained work force for implementation. Because SSLR is currently working toward the implementation of major projects outside of the United States, it is essential to have a training school capable of building a green work force in foreign countries.
"Green University has the potential to accelerate the energy efficiency of many smaller countries where there is currently no trained work force capable of installing and maintaining solar infrastructure," said Mr. Eddie Austin, Chairman and CEO of Sunrise Solar Corp. "We see this as an exciting way to create many new jobs in countries where we will be delivering our solar power products in the next few years."
The United States is rapidly catching up to solar leaders such as Japan and Germany with companies such as First Solar, Inc. (NASDAQ:FSLR) and Suntech Power Holdings (NYSE:STP) acting as leaders in the charge. Device companies that provide the picks and shovels needed by the industry, such as Energy Conversion Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:ENER), also play an important role. SSLR is actively developing projects and new technologies in the U.S. but has seen the biggest opportunities present themselves in emerging markets that need to expand their access to alternative energy.
