The Gas Company Names Stephanie Ackerman As VP Public Policy and Communications

The Gas Company LLC, Hawaii's largest provider of clean, reliable gas energy to government, business and consumers, has named Stephanie C. Ackerman as vice president, public policy and communications. Ackerman will direct the company's corporate communications, public relations, government affairs, and community outreach programs.
"Ms. Ackerman's broad experience with our Hawaiian communities statewide, combined with her cultural sensitivity, will measurably strengthen our outreach to customers and the people of Hawaii," said Jeffrey M. Kissel, president and CEO of The Gas Company. "This is particularly important as The Gas Company evolves to better meet the challenges of our state and nation to develop renewable and sustainable fuel resources, and the needs of our customers for more efficient, less costly energy."

Prior to joining The Gas Company, Ackerman was senior vice president for Aloha Airlines. During her tenure there, she held executive positions with varied responsibilities, including corporate communications, government affairs, marketing, community relations, and real property and facility management. Ackerman also served on the board of the Hawaii Fueling Facilities Corporation for 10 years, and was an active participant and member of the Air Transport Association's public affairs, communications, and airport affairs committees. She presided as president of the Airline Committee of Hawaii from 2000-2004 and was a member of its Executive Committee from 1996-2008. A graduate of the University of Hawaii, Ackerman is an active community leader and serves on the boards of Child & Family Services and Hawaii Nature Center.
The Gas Company makes synthetic natural gas from byproducts of petroleum imported for refining for gasoline and diesel. It supplies synthetic natural gas (SNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to 67,000 commercial and residential customers statewide -- government, business and consumers.
