CLT Efficient Technologies Group Launches National Practices and Expands Its Communication, Awareness, and Training Capability for Clients Investing in Energy Efficiency

Posted on: Monday, 6 October 2008, 15:00 CDT

CARNEGIE, Pa., Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- CLT Efficient Technologies Group (http://www.cltetg.com/), the fastest growing Energy Services Company (ESCO) in the region and across Pennsylvania, is harnessing the power of its continued growth in performance contracting to expand its services across new, national practice areas to focus on airports and wastewater management facilities.

CLT is poised to leverage its expertise in energy performance contracting, which provides guaranteed utility services and savings programs for municipalities, institutional, commercial and industrial clients -- achieving facility improvements by capturing wasted energy dollars, and subsequently, mitigating the need for capital funds.

According to Troy Geanopulos, CEO, CLT Efficient Technologies Group, his Carnegie, Pa.-based company now employs 35 people -- making it the region's largest energy services company in terms of dedicated, "green collar" employees, focused on guaranteed, energy performance contracting and related services.

"Our growth over the past several years can be attributed to our singular focus on delivering results for our client partners," said Geanopulos. "We have never had a savings shortfall and we continue to offer guaranteed returns on energy savings."

In recent months, CLT has continued to expand its technical staff, including the addition of Kelly Smith, communications, awareness and training coordinator, who will help spearhead project milepost reports to clients so they understand when improvements will be made to employees' respective work areas. She also will lead initiatives to help educate CLT's clients as to how they can optimize their investment in energy saving projects and services by modifying behavior.

"We see an opportunity to better communicate to our clients during the pre-renovation, renovation and post-renovation phases of a project to ensure they are completely comfortable with not only our work, but also how they can contribute to their overall energy savings by changing their behavior," said Geanopulos.

The firm is now targeting national aviation management opportunities because many of the 460 airports across the country are facing enormous cost upgrades as their facilities age. According to Geanopulos, airport authorities across the country are looking to modify energy use, particularly as airports change the way they serve travelers and airlines. "Airports want to become more competitive to attract airlines," he said, "One way to do that is to optimize energy usage, which, in turn, helps the airport demonstrate to airlines it is committed to cost savings and delivering better economic value."

CLT's commitment to growing business in the aviation sector led to the recent addition of Scott R. O'Donnell, as Senior Vice President, Airports. Mr. O'Donnell previously served as the Director of Aviation at the Pittsburgh International Airport, from 1988 to 1993.

Another national focus area for CLT is on wastewater management facilities, which is an outcome of an aging municipal infrastructure facing governments across the country. According to Geanopulos, much of the country's wastewater facilities were constructed in the early to mid-20th Century.

"With the advent of urban sprawl in the latter part of the 20th Century, the wastewater management systems have been severely compromised as more and more homeowners and businesses tax the system," he said.

Rob Campbell, chief operating officer, CLT Efficient Technologies Group, said the trend toward improving the energy infrastructure among aging wastewater management facilities is growing because governments typically lack available capital funds and want to be able to take advantage of legislation that allows for funding of capital improvements to be paid for from efficiency upgrades.

"The improvements and efficiency upgrades are paid for using money saved annually on wasted utilities, which ultimately fund other budgetary needs," said Campbell.

Campbell added, through the upgraded infrastructure, municipalities can also realize reduced maintenance costs and increased reliability, further helping them achieve costs savings, and at the same time, achieve the long-term benefits of meeting current and future operational demands.

"Municipalities are clearly interested in reducing energy consumption by replacing old, inefficient technology with equipment that increases operational efficiencies and cost savings for the next several decades," he said.

CLT Efficient Technologies Group is an energy performance contractor founded in 2000, which provides guaranteed utility services and savings programs for municipal, institutional, commercial and industrial clients. CLT is an independent Energy Services Company (ESCO) headquartered in Carnegie, Pa. For more information regarding CLT and energy efficient services, visit http://www.cltetg.com/
