Kazakh Energy Giant Turns Down Russia’s Gazprom, Finds New Investor

Almaty, 7 October: Kazakhstan’s KazMunayGaz national oil and gas company has stopped talks with Russia’s Gazprom Neft open joint- stock company on possible purchase of a share in MangistauMunayGaz [an oil and gas company owned by KazMunayGaz], the Interfax- Kazakhstan news agency has learnt from an informed source.
“Gazprom Neft has already been turned down. There will be a new investor who has offered a better deal,” he said. The source also told the agency that it was not a Russian investor.
