The China National Petroleum Corporation has begun construction of an initial compressor station on the Central Asia gas pipeline in Kaskadarya in Uzbekistan.

The compressor station is expected to function as the heart of the gas pipeline, receiving gas from upstream and conveying it downstream after compression.

According to the China National Petroleum Corporation’s (CNPC) construction plan, the China Petroleum Engineering & Construction Corporation will complete roads and ground leveling works, supply water and electricity, as well as undertake foundation casting and underground concealed engineering of two compressor units by the end of 2008.

The compressor units will be installed in July 2009, then put into trial operation in mid-November 2008, and are expected to be ready for operation by December 15, 2008.
