October 7, 2008
The state-owned Bahrain Petroleum Company’s petrol stations could be privatized in 2009, according to Bahrain’s oil and gas affairs minister and the National Oil and Gas Authority chairman, Abdulhassan Mirza.
The National Oil and Gas Authority (Noga) had assigned a consultancy firm to study the privatization process, which later submitted its report to a committee representing Noga, the country’s Economic Development Board and finance ministry.
Dr Mirza said that the consultancy is appraising Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) petrol stations for privatization and their subsequent transfer to a private company.
