JOGMEC Finds Minerals in Andes

Tokyo, Oct. 8 (Jiji Press)–Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corp. said Wednesday it has found a mineral belt, including copper and gold, in the Andes mountains on the border of Chile and Argentina.

The belt was found through test-drilling conducted jointly with Canadian resource firm Suramina Resources Inc. JOGMEC has a 40 pct stake in the project.

JOGMEC said it will go ahead with estimates on mineral volumes and economic viability if the belt is found to be big enough.END
