3.1 Quake Strikes Near Piedmont

An earthquake shook parts of the East Bay this afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quake, with a magnitude of 3.1, struck at 4:19 p.m., a mile northeast of Piedmont and three miles northeast of Oakland.
No damages or injuries have been reported.
Bay Area Rapid Transit officials are reporting temporary system- wide delays of about five minutes Friday evening but said they did not know how long the delays would last.
