Green Energy Funds Attracting Investors

Wall Street says there has been a recent jump in the number of so-called exchange-traded funds seeking investments in alternative energy.
A large number of the funds have sprung up in the past year as surging energy prices pique the interest of investors looking for the next profitable niche, if not the next big boom.
The New York Times reported Sunday that analysts pointed to a pair of new funds that reaped a total of $83 million in assets in their first four months of operation.
The analysts agreed that alternative energy was a promising field; however, they cautioned the field involved a wide range of technologies and their future depends, in large part, on high conventional energy prices.
"Essentially you are betting on which ones will get pushed around by oil prices the most," said Jeff Tjornehoj, a senior research analyst at Lipper.
