The Missouri Renewable Fuels Association has selected Gene Millard of St. Joseph as its president for 2008-09.

Mr. Millard is the chairman of Golden Triangle Energy, a majority farmer-owned ethanol plant in Craig, Mo. He took over as president Oct. 1.

“Gene has a great feel for the direction the organization should take,” said previous president John Eggleston. “Our team will face new challenges as the renewable fuels industry continues to grow and evolve. I have great confidence in Gene’s ability to help guide education and public policy efforts to support Missouri’s ethanol industry.”

Bill Becker, president and chief executive officer of Lifeline Foods in St. Joseph, will serve as treasurer.

The association is made up of members from Missouri’s six farmer- owned ethanol plants and the Missouri Corn Growers Association. The group was founded in 2006 to build and maintain a positive, profitable environment for Missouri’s ethanol plants through political action and consumer education.
