AER to Provide Russian Energy Sector With Winter Seasonal Forecasts

AER Inc., leading experts in seasonal forecasting, today announced that they have entered into an agreement with Joint Stock Company "Agency for forecasting of electric energy balance" (JSC "AFEB"), to provide the Russian energy sector with AER's sCast winter forecast. The forecast will include average minimum temperatures under extreme weather conditions for 83 administrative centers within the Russian Federation. JSC "AFEB" is a specialized agency established in August 2005 by the national holding company - JSC (RAO UESR of Russia). It provides forecasting services for the newly privatized electric power industry in Russia.
AER's highly regarded statistical approach to long range weather forecasting has been used operationally by the energy and financial markets in the U.S. and Europe since 1999. Today reports are issued for the U.S., Western Europe and the Far East. The addition of the Russian Federation will expand forecast coverage over the entire Northern Hemisphere. AER forecasts include monthly minimum temperatures, and energy sensitive parameters such as, heating degree days and population-weighted heating degree days.
