Solar cell, panel and systems manufacturer SunPower and the Naturener Group have dedicated a 7MW solar electric power plant in Casas de Don Pedro, Badajoz, Spain. Solargen, a corporate affiliate of Naturener Group, owns the plant.
SunPower has installed its proprietary SunPower Tracker solar tracking system at the site, covering a total of approximately 40 hectares or more than 98 acres. The SunPower Tracker follows the sun as it moves across the sky, increasing sunlight capture by up to 25% over conventional fixed-tilt systems.
Mario Riello, European sales director of SunPower, said: "Naturener chose SunPower's innovative solar tracker technology as part of our turnkey solar solution. The SunPower Tracker solar power system is a proven and reliable solution for maximizing the highest energy delivery, while optimizing land use and reducing related costs."
Rafael Sanchez-Castillo, CEO of Naturener Group, said: "This project extends our existing renewable portfolio of hydro and wind generation. We are pleased to work with SunPower and continue our expansion of renewable energy in the Spanish and North American markets."
