BA and Virgin Atlantic Reduce Fuel Fees

Two British airlines said they would reduce fuel surcharges by up to $45 on return flights after an industry watchdog group criticized the practice.
In September, the Air Transport Users Council complained British Airways' surcharges were not related to the cost of fuel, The Times of London reported Wednesday.
Virgin Atlantic and BA both said they would reduce fuel surcharges. The price of crude oil has dropped from a peak price above $147 a barrel in July to about $80 a barrel this month.
Cathay Pacific, Thai Airways, El Al, Air France, KLM and others have already reduced their fuel surcharges, but Virgin Atlantic and BA have held out until now, although some return fights include surcharges of up to $419, The Times reported.
