Safe, Clean, Reliable Energy is Good for Texas, Good for Victoria
AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 16 /PRNewswire/ — Today Nuclear Energy For Texans (NET) countered false and misleading assertions by the small but very vocal anti-nuclear activist group, Texans for a Sound Energy Policy Alliance (TSEPA), by pointing out that the majority of Victoria, Texas residents support the proposed nuclear power plant in Victoria.
“Victoria, Texas residents have welcomed the proposed Exelon nuclear power plant with open arms and overwhelming support,” said Robert Black, NET spokesman. “It is outrageous that this small anti-nuclear activist group would travel across the country to try and derail a project that the vast majority of Victoria, Texas residents whole-heartedly support.”
The small anti-nuclear activists group TSEPA who is protesting the Victoria plant is financed almost entirely by people who do not even live in the Victoria area.
“The citizens of Victoria appreciate the long record of environmental safety and corporate responsibility that has made Exelon one of the premier energy providers in the nation,” said Dale Fowler, President, Victoria Economic Development Corporation. “It is a shame that a small fringe group like TSEPA will disparage a good company and a good project that will bring hundreds of jobs and improve the quality of life for all Victorians just to advance their own narrow interests.”
More than 200 business, academic and state leaders and groups representing thousands of Texans have banded together to form Nuclear Energy for Texans (NET), dedicated to raising awareness about the benefits of nuclear energy as a safe, clean, reliable alternative to meeting the increasing energy needs of Texas.
In Victoria, Texas alone, individuals and groups representing more than 2,000 Victorians have enthusiastically joined the NET ranks.
