Spanish natural gas major Gas Natural has announced that the government of Argentina has raised the tariffs charged by its Argentine subsidiary Gas Natural BAN.
The hike, which will apply to domestic and industrial customers and to vehicular natural gas, ranges from 10% to 30% depending on consumption levels, and will apply from September 1, 2008.
In June 2005, the company agreed with the Argentine government to renegotiate its contract, ending the freeze on tariffs imposed in 2002.
According to the company, Gas Natural BAN was the first gas distribution company to renegotiate its contract and apply a tariff increase in 2007. The Argentine government then imposed a new tariff increase in September 2008.
